Western Massachusetts Training & Education Academy offers many classes in personal safety and self-defense, for individuals and the whole family.
Developing A Personal & Home Protection Plan:
This is a MUST take class for new or experienced gun owners and or users. In our society we have fire drills, lockdown drills, active shooter drills and tornado drills, but many americans NEVER consider do I or should I have a plan incase someone breaks in. This class gives you a wide view of what to do and what not to do. The safety of family is paramount. Prepare your family for the worst, but always hope for the best. This class is wriiten by USCCA which is a national company for firearm owners and users. This course outlines, how common is violent crime in america, why conflict Avoidance is So important, Situational Awareness, The color codes of awareness, Action-v-reactin, etc. You won't be disappointed by this class. The maximum is 12 people. The class is 2 hours in duration and the cost is $25.00 per person. Please note, all classes are lecture unless stated otherwise.
NEW License to Carry/With Live Fire (LTC)
Successful completion of this class will allow you to apply for a Concealed Carry Permit (CCW). See MA state laws.
State Mandated course to obtain LTC or FID. Covers: Massachusetts Gun Laws, Proper storage, Suicide Prevention, De-escalation, Injury Prevention, Written Exam and Live Fire etc. Live fire will be held the next day at Millers Falls Rod & Gun located at 210 Turners Falls Rd Montague, MA 01349.
Cost is $150.00 per person. The class is total 7 hours. 5 hours classroom, and 2 hours range for Live Fire.

Self Defense- Firearm Basics:
This class is USCCA material and is designed to teach the participants: Four Universal Firearm Sfety Rules, Properly clearing Semi-automatics and revolvers, additinal safety Considerations, Double action v- single action, Handgun size and weight, ammunition and ballistics, along with other valuble information. Shooting Fundamentals:
This USCCA course covers topics such as - Muscle memory explained, Proper grip, Stance, or "shooting platform", Point shooting, flash Sight Picture, Sighted fire and trigger control. All essential components and is the foundation of a good shooter. The maximum is 12 people. The class is 2 hours in duration and the cost is $25.00 per person. The Legal Use of Force:
This USCCA course covers all the topics regarding Use of Force. This includes: Reviewing the Legal definotions of Reasonable Fotce and Deadly Force, Understanding the Use of Force Continuum, The Four Pillars for justifying Use of Deadly Force, How Defense in the home differs from Outside and Defending Property. This class is a MUST for ALL GUN OWNERS!! We have all heard wives tales about being automatically able to shoot someone for entering your home, well it depends on what state you reside in. This course gives you a explicit breakdoown to keep you safe and make you a well informed and reponsible gun owner/user. The maximum is 12 people. Violent Encounters and Their Aftermath:
This USCCA class covers a multitude of great information for those who carry or have a weapon for home protection. It breaksdown the what to do, what noy to do. This covers: Understanding Fight or Flight, The Physiological Reactions Associated With extreme stress, Issuing Commands and Reviewing Our Options, When We Are Left With No Other Choice, When The Right To use Deadly Force Ends, The Immediate Aftermath, Dealing With the Police. Youth Firearm Safety Course:
This course introduces children to firearms and how they should respond if in the presence of firearms. This is a basic course to explain what guns versus what they are not. WE COVER PROPER STORAGE, WHAT TO DO IF YOU FIND A GUN, ETC. This Class is FREE to children 5 yoa - 16 yoa.

Youth Safe Handling and Familiarity:
This class is designed to make youth more confident and knowledgeable when it comes to firearm, this course covers cleaning and parts identification.

Women's Intro to Firearms Basics:
This class is designed to educate and empower the participants. Making participants comfortable with handling, loading, unloading, cleaning, and introduction to marksmanship. Senior Individuals Firearm Safety and Handling Refresher:
To help older adults 65 years of age or older stay confident, safe, and responsible with firearms through a review of essential skills, safety protocols, and practical handling.stay confident, safe, and responsible with firearms through a review of essential skills, safety protocols, and practical handling.Please note the hands-on portion will require some level of manual dexterity, so please alert the instructor if you do or may require assistance and we will accommodate.The maximum is 10 people. Self Defense Level 1:
This is a 1 hour class designed to be repeatable. This class will cover basic self-defense techniques. Starting with developing a self-defense plan. Additionally, students will start to build their form with basic self-defense stance, movement, striking, and escapes.? The maximum is 6 people. This class is 1 hour in duration and the cost is $25.00 per person. Please note, all classes are physically demanding. Please inform the instructor of any injuries past or current that may hinder your participation in class. Some lecture, then hands on unless stated otherwise. Prerequsite to Level 2 is completion of Level 1. In order to test into Level 2 students have to complete 10 Level 1 sessions and complete a physical and mental academic assesment by the Instructor.

Self Defense Level 2:
This is a 1 hour class. This class will cover intermediate self-defense techniques and violent encounters and the aftermath. Incorporating ground fighting escapes, strikes, and submissions. Level 1 is a prerequisite for level 2. The maximum is 6 people. This class is 1 hour in duration and the cost is $25.00 per person. Please note, all classes are physically demanding. Please inform the instructor of any injuries past or current that may hinder your participation in class. Some lecture, then hands on unless stated otherwise. Prerequsite to Level 3 is completion of Level 2. In order to test into Level 3 students have to complete 10 Level 2 sessions and complete a physical and mental academic assesment by the Instructor to advance to Level 3.

The course gets into gadgets and gear, and incorporates less lethal self-defense weapons into the skills learned from Levels 1 and 2. Level 2 is a prerequisite for level 3. The maximum is 6 people. This class is 1 hour in duration and the cost is $25.00 per person. Please note, all classes are physically demanding. Please inform the instructor of any injuries past or current that may hinder your participation in class. Some lecture, then hands on unless stated otherwise. Prerequsite to Level 3 is completion of Level 2. Simulator Night:
This is designed to enhance a students ability to work under pressure, evaluate, and use judgement on shoot don't shoot scenarios while focusing on avoidance and de-escalation if possible.Students should wear comfortable clothing and clothing they would normally wear while carrying concealed. This class will have 8 students maximum and 2 hour duration. The cost is $25.00
